Halloween is all about the sweet treats and we’re not just talking about candy during the annual trick-or-treating. The simple sweet treat Chex Mix Muddy Buddies can be made for Halloween incorporating some sweet and savory flavors that will take under 20 minutes to make.
Cooking Equipment:
- 2 Large mixing bowls
- Microwave-proof Bowl
- Gallon-Sized Ziploc Bags
- Parchment Paper
- Baking Sheet
Ingredients:
- 3/4 Cup Brownie Mix
- 9 Cups Rice Chex
- 3/4 Cup Powdered Sugar
- 1 1/2 Cups Semisweet chocolate chips
- 1 Cup Reese’s Pieces
- 1/2 Cup Peanut Butter
- 1 1/2 Cups Oreos (slightly chopped)
- 1/4 Cup Butter
- 1 1/2 Cups Candy Corn
- 1 Tsp Vanilla
- 1 1/2 Cups Mini Pretzels
Directions:
1. Pour the Chex cereal into a large bowl, then set aside.
2. Combine the butter, chocolate chips, and peanut butter in the microwave-proof bowl.
3. Microwave for 30 to 90 seconds and stir every 30seconds during heating to allow chocolate chips are melted completely with a smooth consistency.
4. Once the mixture is completely combined and melted, stir in the vanilla.
5. Take the melted chocolate mixture and pour over the Chex in the large bowl, mixing delicately to prevent crushing the cereal.
6. Divide the mixture evenly between two gallon-sized Ziploc bags.
7. Pour the brownie mix into one bag and powdered sugar in the other.
8.. Seal the bags and shake gently until thoroughly coated with brownie mix and powdered sugar.
9. Spread the parchment paper over a baking sheet, then spread the cereal mixture onto the parchment paper to let the chocolate firm (for about 20 minutes).
10. In a clean large bowl, combine the coated cereal with other treats including Reese’s Pieces, pretzel pieces, Oreo pieces, and candy corn.
11. Serve and enjoy. (For optional storage – store in an airtight container).
